Peter Allen

Peter Allen, an Australian icon, came from a modest background. His father, Dick Woolnough, was a soldier who unfortunately turned to drink after returning from the First World War. His mother, Marion, worked hard to support the family. Their relationship was troubled, and Peter's father tragically took his own life when Peter was just 14 years old.

As reported earlier this year, Bendigo Community Bank recently awarded Fleurieu FM a grant of money. The grant that was requested, was to replace our aging transmission tower. The tower stands on Brown's Hill near Port Elliott. Our old transmission tower was in disrepair and hit by lighting on more than one occasion.
The tower was sourced locally and delivered to the site. A concrete slab was recently poured on the 10th of May. Ian Totty and Jim Bickers have been working diligently to have the other parts of the tower added. Once fully erect, the tower will broadcast from Browns Hill to the greater Fleurieu Peninsula.
Our gratitude goes to our long-term sponsor Bendigo Community Bank Victor Harbor for their support.
