Our Story

30 Years of Local Radio

Fleurieu FM began in the late 1980s as Encounter FM, a grassroots movement by locals who believed the South Coast deserved its own voice. After years of test broadcasts, we officially launched in 1991 with a dedicated community license.

For over three decades, we have remained 100% volunteer-powered. What started as a small coastal operation has grown into a regional pillar, expanding our reach to Yankalilla and Strathalbyn.

Today, we continue to celebrate a vibrant mix of Australian and international music, keeping the Peninsula informed, entertained, and connected.
