Born Stephanie Lynn Nicks on May 26, 1948, in Phoenix, the daughter of Jess Nicks, a corporate executive, and Barbara Nicks, a homemaker. She has one younger brother, Christopher. Due to her father's career, the family moved frequently, living in various locations including Albuquerque, New Mexico; El Paso, Texas; Salt Lake City, Utah; Los Angeles, California; and Chicago, Illinois.

A deep connection to music marked her early life, a supportive family environment, and a relentless pursuit of her dreams despite numerous challenges. Her experiences and influences during these formative years played a crucial role in shaping her unique style and successful career.

Nicks was influenced by her grandfather, a country music singer, and developed a love for music at a young age. Stevie received a Goya guitar for her 16th birthday and began writing songs. She developed a passion for music early on, influenced by the sounds of country and rock music. Nicks is known for her distinctive voice, mystical stage persona, and poetic, narrative songwriting.

Nicks and Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac, bringing a new dynamic to the band on New Year's Eve 1974. In 1975, the new line-up released their first album together, the self-titled Fleetwood Mac, the band's tenth studio album overall. The album was a breakthrough for the band and became a huge hit, reaching No. 1 in the US and selling over 7 million copies.

Fleetwood Mac is a British-American rock band formed in London in 1967. The band was founded by guitarist Peter Green, drummer Mick Fleetwood, and guitarist Jeremy Spencer. Over time, the band underwent numerous lineup changes and evolved in musical style, achieving significant commercial success and becoming one of the best-selling music acts of all time. The band's music evolved from blues-rock to a more mainstream rock and pop sound, incorporating elements of folk, soft rock, and even some experimentation in the "Tusk" album.

Stevie Nicks had a highly publicised relationship with Lindsey Buckingham and was briefly married to Kim Anderson, the widower of her best friend Robin, she has been open about her struggles with substance abuse, particularly her addiction to cocaine and subsequent use of Klonopin, a prescription medication.

She remains a force in the music industry and is much loved and respected by fans around the world.

She met guitarist Lindsey Buckingham during her senior year of high school. They later formed the band "Buckingham Nicks", which released one album in 1973. Before joining Fleetwood Mac, Nicks worked various jobs, including waitressing and cleaning houses, to support herself and her musical ambitions. She faced numerous rejections but remained determined to succeed in the music industry.
